DRIFTWOOD

A gentle voyage across an endless sea

Sail a little boat between hand-built islands, and draw what you find.

Driftwood is a relaxed exploration game about the sea and everything that lives in and above it.

There are no enemies and no timers. Read the wind, tack toward a far-off lighthouse, sketch the crabs on the beach and the rays over the reef, and find your way home by a sky that matches the real one.

Sail by the wind, the sun and the stars

Your boat answers the wind. Run before it, reach across it, and tack when it's in your face.

  • Stow the compass and steer by sunrise in the east and Polaris in the north.
  • The night sky is the real one for the date: 94 named stars, the planets where they actually are, and the Milky Way.
  • Raise a telescope and log 53 stars, planets, constellations and nebulae in your Astronomy Notebook.
The explorer talks with Odessa, the white-haired lighthouse keeper, at the foot of a red and white lighthouse

Meet the Keeper of Palm Haven

The lighthouse on Palm Haven has been dark since the autumn storm. Odessa still lives at its foot, and she could use a hand relighting it.

Story Mode grows with the game. New chapters arrive as free updates, so there's always another bottle washing ashore.

The explorer's leather journal open on the Story page, listing the chapter The Keeper's Light

Fill a field journal

Raise your journal and sketch whatever catches your eye. Each new creature, plant and place earns a page with field notes, checked against real references.

Goals, small wishes and a satchel of crafted gear grow out of what you discover, never out of a checklist you have to grind.

The explorer swimming underwater over rippled sand toward coral and sea fans

Slip over the side and dive

Warm islands are ringed with coral reefs, cool ones with kelp forests. Green sea turtles, eagle rays, parrotfish and garibaldi all go in the Sea section of your journal.

Weather that changes the day

Clear skies cloud over, rain rolls in, and sometimes a storm brings lightning, big seas and waterspouts that will spin your boat if you sail too close.

Prefer calm water? One setting keeps the skies gentle.

The ribs of an old shipwreck half buried on a sunny beach, palms and red sea stacks behind

Every shore has a story

Old wrecks, ruined arches, beached canoes, homesteads with smoke in the chimney. Pitch a tent anywhere, light a fire, and rest until the stars come out.

One island, four seasons

Drag across Bramblewick Green to turn the year. Seasons follow the real sun, and a full year passes in about twenty hours of play. Sail south of the equator and they flip.

Bramblewick Green in spring: fresh green meadows and trees Bramblewick Green in summer Bramblewick Green in autumn: amber and rust trees over golden meadows Bramblewick Green in winter: snow across the meadows down to the beach

A year of events on the water

Holidays arrive on their real dates, with their own look, hidden things to find and goals to finish. New events and chapters download as free updates.
